At Cactus & Coast Counseling Center, PLLC we support individuals, couples, and families as they grow through life’s dry seasons and drift toward deeper connection. Rooted in resilience and guided by compassion, we create a safe and supportive space where healing, clarity, and authentic relationships can flourish.
Inspired by the clients we support in both Texas and California, our name reflects the strength of the Texas landscape and the California coastline. We are committed to providing personalized care that fosters emotional wellness, growth, and lasting resilience.
We’re not your quiet, nod-and-smile kind of therapy practice. We roll up our sleeves and are committed to walking alongside you—offering real tools, fresh perspective, and honest conversation to help you shake off stuck patterns and step into joy. We’re firm believers that therapy isn’t just about working through the hard stuff—it’s also about making space for laughter, meaningful “aha” moments, and the kind of hope that carries you forward. Healing takes courage—and you don’t have to do it alone. When you're ready, we’ll be here to walk with you through the dry seasons and waves in between.
Welcome to Cactus & Coast Counseling – Nice to Meet You!
Lauren Gibson
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist & CEO
You're tired of just getting through the day. Maybe you've found yourself stuck in the same patterns, feeling distant from others — or even from yourself. If you're here, it's likely because something in your life is causing pain, and you're ready for change. You don't have to go through it alone.
Lauren is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in both Texas and California with over 10 years of experience supporting individuals, couples, children, and families. She specializes in working through challenges like depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, fertility issues, and postpartum mental health. As a Level 3 trained Gottman therapist, she brings a compassion and research to her sessions supporting couples and individuals alike.
Her style is collaborative and personalized, drawing from a variety of evidence-based approaches including client-centered therapy, the Gottman Method, attachment-based therapy, narrative therapy, CBT, DBT, and discernment counseling. When appropriate, she also integrates mindfulness, play, and art therapy to support healing and growth in creative ways.
In addition to her clinical practice, she teaches at both the undergraduate and graduate level at Houston Christian University and Colorado Christian University. She also provides supervision to graduate level therapists and serves as a staff member at a local inpatient and outpatient psychiatric and substance abuse hospital.
Outside of the office, you’ll likely find her enjoying time with her family, kayaking, or working on a woodworking project in the garage alongside her co-founder and husband.
